This past Veterans Day, Lake County’s 19th Judicial Circuit invited veterans to come to the Lake County Courthouse in Waukegan, Illinois to give oral histories about their experiences serving in the United States military. These historical narratives were transcribed by licensed Court Reporters and then archived in the Library of Congress in Washington, D.C. Larry had the great honor of being invited by the Chief Judge to take an historical narrative of one our great veterans. It was a moving and heartfelt event for all who were involved.
In 2000, the United States Congress created the Veterans History Project as part of the American Folklife Center at the Library of Congress. The mission is to collect, preserve and make accessible the personal accounts of American war veterans so that future generations may hear directly from veterans and better understand the realities of war.
